Endodontic Treatment in Cranston, RI

A healthy smile depends on teeth that stay functional for years to come. At Ocean State Endodontics, our endodontists provide endodontic treatment for teeth affected by infection, injury, or damage deep inside the tooth. Services include root canal retreatment for teeth that still have problems after an earlier procedure and other specialized treatments that help save natural teeth whenever possible. Every evaluation is personalized, with modern imaging and careful diagnosis guiding treatment recommendations. Schedule a consultation with Ocean State Endodontics at our Cranston or Middletown, RI facility to experience the difference specialized endodontic care can make.

Treatments begin with a detailed examination and digital imaging to determine the source of the problem. During root canal retreatment, one of our endodontists will carefully reopen the tooth, remove the previous filling material, and examine the root canals for hidden bacteria, additional canals, cracks, or other concerns that may have contributed to a failed root canal treatment. The canals are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sealed before the tooth is restored. This type of endodontic retreatment removes infection that remains inside the tooth while helping reduce the chance of future complications. Preserving the natural tooth allows it to continue functioning during normal biting and chewing while helping maintain long-term oral health and protecting nearby teeth.

Modern endodontic treatment at Ocean State Endodontics focuses on saving natural teeth whenever possible, and research continues to show high success rates for properly treated teeth. Restoring a tooth instead of removing it can help preserve normal function and reduce the need for more extensive dental procedures in the future. Benefits of endodontic treatment in Cranston and Middletown, RI include:

  • Relieves discomfort caused by infection or inflammation
  • Treats deep infection inside the tooth
  • Helps save your natural tooth
  • Addresses a failed root canal treatment through root canal retreatment
  • Reduces the spread of infection

  • Provides an alternative to tooth extraction in many cases

Wonderful care at Ocean State Endodontics. The team here is incredibly nice and the experience was quick and painless. I felt really relaxed in their space and enjoyed the dentist's personality. He hums while he works and it was really soothing and grounding for me. Additionally the fee was exactly what they had said it would be over the phone, no hidden costs. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a root canal. ♡

Dr. Reynolds and Marissa were fantastic. I was a little nervous going to a new endodontist but my experience was great. Took me in on time (Love that!), explained everything to me, good conversation, made sure I was completely numb and checked in with me during the whole procedure.

I was referred to OSE-Ocean State Endodontics on 1145 Reservoir Ave in Cranston,RI by my primary dental profesional. I wish it never happened, but when you are up to needing these kinds of services, you only hope you get to the right place. It was exactly what happened with me. The best possible way to describe my experience is by saying that when I was receiving my root canal work, I made considerable efforts to not to fall asleep. That comfortable I felt. They exercise a joint approach to the patient that starts with the front desk, continues with the supporting or assistance staff, and ends with the DMD that performs the treatment. I hate rudeness in people, but also fake politeness. However, I am moved by genuine and authentic people—those without a forced smile, or with enough maturity to remain silent rather than offend. Two assistants with whom I happened to interact reminded me, through the simplicity of their gestures, that human values still exist.

I saw Dr. Gaudette and his assistant Kate today for a root canal. Going into it I was nervous since I had never had this procedure before and historically I have felt pain with fillings in that same tooth multiple times so I was worried about pain level. I let Kate and Dr. Gaudette know my concerns and they reassured me that the numbing was going to be adequate and they explained the general procedure and they walked me through every step of the process throughout the procedure. They made sure I was comfortable and checked in frequently. The procedure itself was quick, and PAINLESS. Not an ounce of pain was felt. Thank you for providing excellent patient care and ensuring I had the best experience possible. I will absolutely return should I need any further endodontic care and will also be referring my friends and family if they need that care. From the front desk to Dr. Gaudette, an absolute 10/10 experience all the way through!

What does an endodontist do that is different from a general dentist?

An endodontist receives additional education focused on diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the inside of the tooth. While a general dentist provides many preventive and restorative dental services, an endodontist concentrates on procedures such as root canals, root canal retreatment, and other treatments involving the dental pulp. Specialized equipment, advanced imaging, and magnification help make these procedures more precise while preserving natural teeth whenever possible.

When should I see an endodontist instead of my regular dentist?

A general dentist may recommend an endodontist when a tooth has persistent pain, deep infection, dental trauma, or symptoms that require specialized evaluation. Patients may also be referred for complex root canal procedures or a failed root canal treatment that requires endodontic retreatment. An examination and imaging help determine the condition of the tooth and the most appropriate treatment option.

Can previously root-treated teeth be retreated?

Yes. Teeth that have already received a root canal may sometimes need root canal retreatment if new decay develops, bacteria remain inside the canals, or a restoration no longer seals the tooth properly. An endodontist carefully evaluates the tooth and discusses available options, which may include endodontic retreatment or another specialized procedure intended to preserve the natural tooth whenever appropriate.

Are endodontic treatments safe for my overall health?

Modern endodontic treatment follows well-established clinical guidelines and sterilization protocols designed to remove infection from inside the tooth. Treating infection promptly may also help prevent it from spreading to surrounding tissues. Advanced technology and evidence-based techniques allow endodontists to provide predictable treatment focused on restoring oral health.
